Another New Friend in Stamford

Hi everyone:
Here is a picture of me with another new friend I made in Stamford. His name is Josias, and he is very nice. His job is taking care of people who are sick, or old, or not very strong, who need some help getting around. He is very good at helping people, and I am glad that I met him.

Some other memories of my trip

Hi everyone: One of the fun things we did when I was visiting Stamford was going to the Public Library. It was a VERY BIG Library. It had so many books I can't even begin to guess how many. I found out that there are books about me, Flat Stanley, in the library. I was so happy about that. I guess I am famous! Here are a few pictures, one outside the library, and one of me with my own very special book.

More New York Pictures

Hi everyone - I was so happy to be able to come to New York City during my trip to Stamford, CT. It was not to far away (we took the train, and the train ride was less than an hour) but it was very different! The weather is the same, but New York City is a very big and busy city. It is so big that we did not get to see all the interesting things here ( we did not get to see the Statue of Liberty) but we did see lots of the tall buildings, and we saw a Broadway show with lots of nice music, and so many people! We stayed overnight in a hotel, and they had a special welcome sign for American Girl dolls. I thought that was pretty funny, so Cathy took my picture with the sign.

New York City!!

Hi everyone - I am here in New York City and it is very big and very exciting. We took a train to get here, the train ride was a little bit less than one hour. When we got off the train we saw a lot of people and a lot of very tall buildings. But in the middle of New York City there is a gigantic park, called Central Park. It is about 2 1/2 miles long and 1/2 mile wide. And all around the park are very tall buildings. I am tired now, I had a very busy day! I will tell you more tomorrow. But here are 2 pictures - one on the train and the other is me sitting on a bench in Central Park. There are a lot of joggers and bicycle riders in the park, you can see some of them behind me. Love, Stanley

Another exciting day!

Hi everyone: I am going to have a very exciting day today. Rich and Cathy and I are going to take a TRAIN and go into New York City. New York City is a very big city - about 8 MILLION people live there, can you believe that? I wonder how many of them I will meet? There are lots of big buildings, and stores and museums and exciting things to see. I can't wait. I will tell you all about my trip. Love, Stanley
PS Here is a picture of me with two of Cathy's friends, Muffy and Cynthia.

My New Friend Joey

Hi Everyone: Here is a picture of me with my new friend Joey. I met him today and he is very nice. He and his mom were visiting his great-grandfather, who lives in Stamford. He let me play with his silly bandz, do you know what they are? They are like rubber bands but they have silly shapes, like cars and stars and rocket ships. He let me wear some of his silly bands - can you see them on my wrists? Love, Stanley

A Very Old Church

Hi everyone,
Here is a picture of a very old church, it was built in 1834. I know you can hardly see me in this picture, but I wanted you to be able to see more of the church. It is very pretty, and even though it is very old, it looks pretty good! Love, Stanley

More Flat Food!!

Hi everyone - I had dinner today at Cosi Restaurant - have you ever been to one? I don't think there are many in Florida. It is very good! I had Flatbread Pizza for dinner -- of course you know that was my favorite thing - I love flat foods! I had a busy day today, I went to the Library, but I will tell you more about that tomorrow. It is really nice travelling, some things are very different (like the fact that is is colder here!!) but people seem the same everywhere - they are all nice. Love, Stanley

Florida Oranges

Hi Everyone: Well, I was feeling a little homesick today, so when I saw these Florida oranges, I couldn't help myself. I jumped in! They smelled really good, and I ate one, it tasted very good, too. What would you miss most if you were away from your home for a while? Love, Stanley

December in Connecticut

Hi Everyone! I am not in this picture, because it was taken in December, when there was about 1 foot of snow! I wish I was here then (but I would need lots more clothes -- I would need a heavy coat, and boots and gloves and a hat!!) I think it would be fun to play in this snow, don't you? Love, Stanley

Good Morning!

Hi everyone! It is Thursday morning, and here I am with Rich, the man in the house where I am staying. He is very nice to me. We are standing in the doorway, we just came in from getting today's newspaper. We have to walk down a very very long driveway to get the newspaper. Do you know that in the winter it can snow a LOT in Connecticut. Rich says that when it snows, it is very hard to walk around, and it can be very slippery. I think I would like to see that. Love, Stanley

Eating Dinner

We had burgers for dinner tonight. They were BIG!!!! If I eat like this every day, I won't be flat anymore!!!

Standing in Two States!!

I found out today that Stamford is very close to the border of New York State. From Jupiter, Florida, you would have to get in a car and drive about 300 miles (about 5 hours) to get to the next state, which is Georgia. That would be a long trip! But, in Stamford, we are only 5 minutes from the border to New York State. Because New York and Connecticut (as well as Florida) are all part of the United States, you could drive across the border and not even notice. It's not like the border to another country. This picture is really 3 pictures put together. There is a tall stone post that marks the border between Connecticut and New York. One side is marked CONN for Connecticut, and the other side is marked NY for New York. In the middle part of the picture, I am standing on the border, and I have one foot in Connecticut and one foot in New York. On the left and the right are pictures of the sides of the post, so you can see the labels for the two states. If you tried to have one foot in each of two states from Jupiter, you would have to have legs that are 300 miles long!!!

A new day - Good Morning

Good morning everyone! It's a new day, and I hope to have many new adventures in Stamford today. I thought I'd start out by reading the local newspaper, The Advocate, to see what is going on around here. One important thing that I read in the paper is that the schools in Stamford are closed for spring recess this week. I wonder why different schools close at different times, what do you think? I just had a good idea! When I plan my travel schedule, I think I will always try to find a place where the schools are closed that week. Then I would always be on vacation, and I would never have to study. That would be fun, right? Love, Stanley

Good Night!!

Hi everyone: Here I am in my pajamas, doing a little reading before I go to bed. Good night! I had a great day, and I can't wait to tell you more tomorrow! Love, Stanley

I like to climb trees!

Hi Everyone! I told you before that I saw lots of trees. Well, you'll never believe what I did this afternoon. I got to climb a tree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a little scary, but it was fun. Cathy told me that Connecticut is part of "New England" which is the name for this part of the country, just like Florida is part of the South. It's too bad that I am here is April, because Cathy told me that is the Fall, New England is famous for all the pretty colors of the leaves on the trees. People come from all over to see them. Right now, there are just little green buds. I hope I get to come back in the Fall. Anyway, here is is picture of me climbing a tree. Love, Stanley

Eating Breakfast

Hi everyone --I am visiting a house where 3 people live: They are Rich, Cathy and Peter. They know Mikaela Helderman, isn't that nice? Cathy took me to the diner for breakfast. Here I am in the diner with Cathy's friend Barbara. I had pancakes for breakfast - I like pancakes because they are flat like me!!!
We had to drive for about 20 minutes to get to the diner. On the way, we saw lots and lots of trees at first, it seemed like we were in the woods. But then it started to look more like a city, with busy roads and more buildings. Cathy told me that about 125,000 people live in Stamford. I hope I get to meet a lot of them!! Love Stanley

Here I am in Stamford Connecticut

Hi everyone!! I got to Stamford, CT last night (Monday) It was a pretty long trip!
I had a good night's sleep, and woke up early so I could learn about Stamford. The first thing I learned is that it is COLD here! It was 40 degrees outside! Here I am, standing next to the outdoor thermometer. I had to get a fleece jacket to wear outside.

I'll write more later.
Love, Stanley
